Pioneer social enterprises showcase digital solutions for the circular economy
On 12 September, the DigiSocCirc project led by RREUSE, Europe’s largest network of social enterprises active in reuse, repair and recycling, held its final conference. The project and final event unveiled digital solutions created by social enterprises, making reuse and repair more efficient while keeping the jobs and skills aspects at heart. It explored common digital solutions and discussed social enterprises’ opportunities and challenges in this digital era.
The conference brought together representatives from individual social enterprises, networks, and national networks, who presented several best practices to inspire and expand the use of inclusive digital solutions. During the presentations, participants gained insights from on-the-ground initiatives, including tailored training for digital skills for individuals distanced from the labour, the use of data collection tools to measure the social and environmental impact generated by social enterprises, and collaborative e-commerce initiatives developed by social economy actors to create a shared marketplace.
These initiatives demonstrated a proactive embrace of digitalisation, signalling a significant change in the sector.
We also heard from representatives from the European Commission, TechSoup, and the Social Good Accelerator, who shared their enlightening perspectives and engaged in lively discussions on accelerating the digital transition of social circular enterprises.
With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity, the event underscored the pivotal role of digital solutions in advancing social enterprises’ mission to create positive social and environmental impact in Europe.
The conversation on the digital era and the future vision of social enterprises will continue at the RREUSE international conference in The Hague on 15 and 16 October 2024.
