NGOs call for a swift revision of the WEEE Directive to address Europe’s electronic waste crisis

RREUSE has joined a coalition of environmental organisations in urging a prompt revision of the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive to curb Europe’s escalating e-waste generation.

Recent Eurostat data shows a staggering 98% increase in the amount of electronic equipment entering the EU market between 2013 and 20221. This sharp increase is driving an e-waste crisis2. We urge the EU to take bold and immediate measures to mitigate the environmental damage caused by Europe’s growing dependence on electronics.
