The revised Waste Framework Directive (WFD) is set to bring significant changes that will affect social enterprises engaged in the collection, sorting, and (preparation for) reuse of textiles. In light of these impending changes, particularly concerning the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations, RREUSE has developed a comprehensive FAQ guide specifically designed to assist its social enterprise members in understanding and adapting to the new regulations.
This guide addresses a wide range of pertinent questions, delving into critical topics such as the types of waste streams that will be impacted by the Directive, the reporting obligations that social enterprises will need to comply with, or the governance structure of Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROS). Additionally, it outlines the responsibilities assigned to these organisations under the new framework.
Furthermore, the FAQ guide provides insights into the anticipated future developments of the Directive, ensuring that members are well informed about any ongoing changes and how they might influence their operations.
By equipping its member with this critical information, RREUSE aims to facilitate a seamless transition to the revised WFD, enabling them to continue their important work in promoting textile reuse and sustainability to fulfil their social mission.
