Ahead of the European Parliament elections scheduled for 6-9 June, 2024, RREUSE is proud to unveil its manifesto, “A Social and Circular Outlook for 2024-2029.”

Our manifesto sets out a comprehensive roadmap for a prosperous European Union that embraces an equitable and job-rich transition to well-being for all. At the heart of this transition are resilient social enterprises that are at the forefront of driving an inclusive and innovative circular economy, primarily through re-use and repair initiatives.

As we stand on the cusp of this critical transition, we urge all future Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to integrate the following key priorities to unlock the full potential of social enterprises in driving this transformation:

  • Linking the social and green agendas: Ensuring that social equity and environmental sustainability are intertwined and mutually reinforcing, guiding Europe towards a more inclusive and sustainable future.
  • Placing waste hierarchy at the centre of policymaking: Positioning waste prevention, re-use, and repair at the heart of legislative and policy frameworks to drive a more efficient and less wasteful circular economy.
  • Creating an enabling environment for social enterprises through public finance and procurement: Through targeted public finance and procurement policies, create a fertile ground for social enterprises to thrive, enabling them to contribute significantly to the circular economy and social well-being.

By integrating these priorities into their programmes, prospective MEPs can play a pivotal role in shaping a future where social and environmental objectives are aligned, paving the way for a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable Europe.
